Sexy Ads
When I first read the heading “Child protection from sexy ads gains favour” I instantly went white inside as all the blood drained from my body in one quick second. All quickly was refreshed when I realized the article in The Age newspaper in Melbourne, Australia wasn’t about our website SexyAds.com.
The article is about removing children from sexually charged advertising and I think that’s a brilliant thing to do. As the owner of a website with adult content, we go way out of our way not to have children on our site that I’m amazed that others don’t do this, especially on bus enclosures, billboards and magazines. Kids can’t ignore them. We don’t permit anyone under 18 to join our site and if they lie and they’re caught, we delete and ban them from coming back. We also delete anyone who submits a photo that we think is “young looking.” I’d rather be wrong. Kids need to be kids until they’re old enough to make their own choices. We don’t show any member submitted adult images to anyone outside the special paid section.
On an amusing note, over the past 10 years we have had a few people who’ve written to us and told us that their kid had stolen their credit card and joined our site and please delete and give them their money back. We always do our best to accomodate if the people acknowledge that their kid is at fault. One guy really pissed me off once when he said that his kid joined our site and stole his credit card for 3 months and we were horrible people for having this website online and destroying his child. I looked the “child” up and the membership was a 44 year old man who had logged in 129 times from a major corporation’s IP address and had written to 76 women. Our experience is that if a kid joins, he’s 18-21. He doesn’t join as a 44 year old man!
So I wrote to him and said that his problem wasn’t that his kid saw a naked person, his REAL problem was that his kid was a thief!
I should have said that I thought he was a crook but I let that slide. Normally I’m a mild mannered person but every once in a while someone can get on my last nerve.
